(DAILY EXPRESS) - All 31 Perak opposition assemblymen from the DAP, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and PAS have signed a letter of undertaking indicating their support for a three-party coalition and the appointment of Pasir Panjang Assemblyman Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as Menteri Besar.
Perak PAS deputy commisioner Asmuni Awi said, the letters were handed over to the Perak Sultan's private secretary, Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohamad Nor about 10 last night.
"After the representatives of the three parties were summoned by the Regent of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah at 2pm yesterday, we signed and handed over the letters," he told Bernama when contacted here.
Mohammad Nizar, 51, is Perak PAS liaison secretary and would be the state's 10th MB.
Last night, the swearing-in ceremony for the menteri besar's post slotted for 4pm at Istana Iskandariah, was postponed after the three parties could not agree on the allocation of exco posts in the new coalition government.
The Istana Kinta said the postponement was due to the latest development of DAP, PKR and PAS not coming to an agreement on the formation of the coalition government.
Istana Kinta, in the statement signed by Abdul Rahim, however, did not set a new date for the swearing-in ceremony but sources said today that it might take place on Monday.
Last night, an upset PKR threatened to leave the coalition government over the allocation of the exco seats.
