The Perak DAP-Pas-PKR coalition said tonight they are fully aware that the posts of deputy menteri besar I and II are not provided for in the Perak state constitution.
In the statement signed by three leaders -- Perak Pas secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, Perak DAP chairman Ngeh Koo Ham and Parti Keadilan Rakyat chairman Zulkifli Ibrahim -- the coalition said that the Perak constitution merely provides for the post of menteri besar and 10 executive councillors.
As such, the coalition said, any references to the designations or posts were intended merely for administrative purposes within the soon-to-be-formed coalition government.
"We further wish to clarify that at no meeting held by us with the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah was there any discussion on these two designations," the coalition said.
Meanwhile, the coalition congratulated Raja Nazrin and Raja Puan Besar Perak Tuanku Zara Salim on the birth of their prince yesterday.
"We join the people of Perak in rejoicing on this happy occasion," the coalition said. -- Bernama
